Given the request for a bus shelter in a new and functional area, soon came the idea to not intervene in the existing space, offering instead an alternative one: a closed and comfortable area for occasional encounter or shelter for longer waiting times. The result is an easily assembled modular structure that conforms a bridge building which overlays the existing infrastructure connecting all the drop-outs in a protected area. It additionally allows the users to see the arriving buses from further distance. The interior was left as continuous as possible to be appropriated as desired by the students, having only the structure of the stairs rise to design fixed benches.
The higher volume in the east-end of the intervention area is a gesture to close the composition, providing a direct relation with the existing green area, valuing and providing a function to it.
The choice regarding the materials imported references from the surroundings. The corten steel was used in an attempt to absorb the industrial character of the area, at the same time as the coloured glass searched to maintain some language continuity with the new Lycée Bel-Val.
